Religious Education for Public School Students

Study of our Roman Catholic Faith is an integral part of the overall curriculum at Carroll Catholic School.  For those students not attending Carroll Catholic School, the Catholic faith is taught through our Religious Education Program.

Religious Education classes meet every Wednesday evening beginning from 6:15 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. Snacks are available from 6:00 p.m. until 6:15 p.m. A calendar is included with this handbook.

In Sacred Scripture, Jesus asked his disciples: “Who Do They Say That I Am?” His disciples had many different answers - John the Baptist, Elijah or one of the other prophets. Only Peter declared that Jesus was the Messiah. Although this question was raised over 2000 years ago, it is still relevant to ask this question because our understanding of God - the Father, Jesus Christ the Son, and the Holy Spirit - continues to change and grow throughout our lives as the circumstances of our lives change.

We believe that parents are the primary teachers of their children. To assist parents we begin each year by conducting an orientation meeting for all parents of students enrolled in our Religious Education Program. During this meeting we will discuss how we can assure unity in educating your child in our Roman Catholic faith.  AT LEAST ONE PARENT IS ASKED TO ATTEND THE ORIENTATION.

At both Carroll Catholic School and in the Religious Education Program, students in grades one to six use the Christ Our Life series from Loyola Press. Junior high students use Faith First series from Resources for Christian Living.
